SUMMARY Icicle Seafoods, Inc. seeks Engineer for 5 person crew tug supply boat in Alaska. Requires 3,000 HP DDE minimum and TWIC card from US Coast Guard. Requires either QMED, 1st Engineering license or Chief Engineering license. Position performs the overall maintenance of vessel machinery under direction of the Captain. Responsible for general maintenance of vessel equipment, including diesel engines, generators, hydraulic system and electrical machinery. This is a seasonal daily rate position that reports to Tug Boat Captain.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Previous marine electrical and refrigeration experience preferred. • Basic understanding of mechanical issues. • Ability to keep engine and maintenance logs. • Ability to work long hours. • Able to work in a team environment as a good shipmate. • Willingness to commit to more than one season. • Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS Minimum 2 years’ experience. • Must possess and maintain proper license and all necessary endorsements as required by the USCG and other regulatory agencies. For this vessel, we require a QMED, Chief Engineer or similar US Coast Guard license. • Working knowledge of vessel equipment, including diesel engines, generators, hydraulic system and electrical machinery. • General knowledge of shipboard safety equipment. • Energetic and able to work 12 hours or more per day, 7 days a week. • Ability to work and live in confined quarters. • First aid and/or firefighting training helpful. • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Must meet US Coast Guard licensing standards regarding physical condition, hearing and eyesight minimums. • Ability to pass a pre-employment and random drug tests. • Must be capable of boarding and exiting a vessel without physical assistance by climbing up and down a gang lank or using a Jacob’s ladder. • Must climb or descend one or more set of steep stairs, or vertical ladders inside and outside the vessel in all weather conditions as extreme as 30 degrees below zero.
